This little boy has surprised me from day one.
We expected screaming and terror. We got a little bit of that, but mostly we got a happy, mellow baby who adjusted really quickly.
We kept waiting for the "honeymoon" phase to end, but it never did.
He really is just happy and mellow.
We decided this week to move him from his crib to a toddler bed. Pretty soon an awesome train table will be making its way into his bedroom and we thought we'd try to get him settled in his bed before then. Plus, we wanted to make the move while he was healthy and sleeping well...and after a full year, we finally have both of those things happening at the same time!
I expected it to go pretty well, considering how well he goes to sleep and how easygoing he is. But part of me still wondered - would this be our first battle? Would we see a new side of him, a stubborn side perhaps?
Nope! I thought the first time night might have been a fluke, but it's been four nights and four naps in his toddler bed with no fussing, no escape attempts - he's only sat up in bed twice!
That's just him. As long as he's not sick or teething, he's happy.
Here's to hoping he stays that way!!!!

Briar is very much the same way, happy and easy going about 99% of the time. As she is approaching 3, we are seeing a bit more of a stubborn streak in her, but not much. :o) We are transitioning to a big girl bed tomorrow and I'm also nervous this will be our first battle with her---your post gives me hope that it won't be, though!!!
Awesome. My son surprised me when we made the switch too. He would actually call me from bed when he woke up so that I could come get him just like he would in a crib. After a year or so of that we finally taught him that he could get out of bed himself. ;)

Way to go, Matthew! You're right, he is so sweet and mellow. I'm not surprised that he transitioned so well! Another milestone to celebrate!
Our little Jae-min is also VERY mellow and happy 99% of the time. We've waited for that honeymoon period to end, but its been 19 months so I guess this is just him!!
Yay for Matthew for transitioning to a big boy bed like a champ. We haven't thought of it yet as Jae-min LOVES his crib, so we think why mess with a good thing? haha

Yeah Matthew! He is just such a sweet little guy! I hope he keeps it up! Our son surprised us too... with all his sleep issues, we thought it would be a nightmare to move him to the toddler bed, but he loved it! We had to put a baby gate on his door though, so he didn't get out of bed and roam the house! :o)
He such a sweet and adorable little boy. Love him!
