These are a little overdue, but I figure we're still in the Christmas season so I can still put them up! Here are some pictures from our Christmas tree expidition a couple of weeks ago. We had a day with nothing planned, so we drove to the same place we bought our last real Christmas tree. Brad didn't really want to cut down one, he wanted to pick a pre-cut tree...but he's sweet and knew that I wanted to cut it down like my family always does, so out we went to cut one down. He actually really enjoyed it once we were out there, and we found a beautiful tree to take home with us. It was a lot of fun and a great memory :)
The tree took the place of Sadie's bench which she sits on to look out the window. Lately she has been a bit stir crazy because she can't look outside. So Brad lets her sit on his lap and look out. It's really funny!
I have been really struck this year by how unimportant all of this traditional Christmas stuff really is...I mean, I enjoy the tree and the presents and the music, but this year I have just been thinking a lot about the real story of Christmas, and how amazing it is that God sent His Son, Jesus, to earth for us. All the other stuff is just frills...so my prayer this Christmas is that I would keep my eyes fixed on Jesus, and remember that He really IS the reason we celebrate.
Merry Christmas!
