Yesterday I finally sent in my entry for a 5k race that is this Friday. For some reason I have been having trouble committing to it. I think it's because I know I am not going to be able to do all that well in it. I'm trying to go into it with the attitude that I just want to run the whole thing. My sister, Joanna, kindly came with me last night for a 3 mile run (she rollerbladed, and Brad walked the dog). It is so much better with company :) I did another 3 miles today, so hopefully I'll be good to go by Friday. I'm not into the training yet for the half marathon - that starts mid June - but I am in the pre-training phase and trying to get back into a regular routine of running. (Maybe my goal for this race should be to have a picture of me that looks like I'm actually running instead of leisurely walking...!)
After running, there are really only two things I feel like doing: eating, and shopping. In that order. So, after dinner Brad and I hit the stores in search of some special items.
When we looked a little closer, we noticed that they even had the word "Photo" written in some kind of Chinese or Korean character (at least I hope that is what it says...!!!)Thoughts from Rachel at 6:40 PM 6 comments
Tomorrow is a special day: Mother's Day. I don't think I've written about it before, but this is a particularly hard day of the year for me...or at least it has been for the last few years. As it approached this year, I tried to figure out how I felt about it, and to be honest, the only feeling I had about it was fear. I have been scared about how I will feel.

Two things to tell you about today: adoption (surprise, surprise!) and running.

Wow! Now that I have recovered a little bit from yesterday's yard sale extravaganza, I thought I'd share a few pictures!
The fun really started on Friday. As soon as work was out, the sorting, pricing, and loading began! Thankfully, we had tackled a lot of the sorting and pricing earlier in the week. My sister, Joanna, and my mom-in-law, Lois, came over a few times to help with this massive job, along with my faithful friend, Kristy. I'm afraid I owe them all BIG TIME after this week!
My wonderful friends knew that I would need to have some fun in order to keep the stress-monster from taking over, so we headed out for dinner. Our dear friends Chad and Rachel went with us, even though Rachel was still recovering from the flu (she is covering her mouth so as not to spread all her germs to us!!!). After dinner, they helped us out so much by loading and letting us use their trailer. I cannot imagine how many trips it would have taken us if we'd only had our Malibu...

After one long, amazing, fun-filled, exhausting, overwhelming, yard sale filled day, I am very excited to say that we have raised $2,133.20 for our adoption!!!
And now I am going to bed :) More to come...
